The graduate of the studies is fully prepared to carry out the following activities:
- specialized communication in the scope of the offered set of foreign languages
- solving problems of intercultural communication
- as part of the translation specialty, being able to translate and interpret specialized texts from the main areas of communicative reality within the offered set of languages
- striving to improve one’s own competences by updating the knowledge, acquiring new skills and searching for new solutions.
Detailed description
A: general linguistic and intercultural competence
1. Knowledge of the culture of language A (Polish), selected language B (English) and language C (Spanish) from the offered language sets: English with German, German with English, English with French, English with Russian;
2. Ability to identify the content, features and key concepts, important and distinctive for the culture of a specific language (in a selected language combination) and their role in text and communication;
3. Ability to create comparative relations between the cultural systems of a specific set of languages and communication systems;
4. Knowledge of language A (Polish), selected language B (English) and language C (Spanish) from the offered language sets;
5. Ability to create comparative relations between the language systems of specific language sets;
6. Ability to understand and create communicatively adequate texts (using text patterns) in language A (Polish), selected language B (English) and language C (Spanish) of the offered language sets in the program-defined main thematic areas, taking into account the cultural specificity of a given language and communication.
B: terminological and specialized competence
1. Terminological and specialized knowledge in the program-defined main thematic areas in the field of language A (Polish), language B (English) and language C (Spanish) within the offered language sets;
2. Ability to receive and create specialized texts in accordance with specific text patterns from the main subject areas in the field of language A (Polish), language B (English) and language C (Spanish) within the offered language sets.
C: translation competence (professional profile)
1. Ability to translate written specialized texts from the main thematic areas of economy, technology, law, culture and politics regarding the appropriate practical processing of various types of text patterns occurring in these areas within the offered language set: English and Spanish;
2. Ability to interpret specialized written texts (sight translation) from the main subject areas (as above) within four transfer modes: simulation, description, explication and synthesis within the offered language set: English and Spanish;
3. Ability to provide consecutive (follow-up) interpreting of oral texts from the main subject areas (as above) within four transfer modes: simulation, description, explication and synthesis, using an appropriate notation system and within the offered language set: English and Spanish;
4. Constant readiness to improve one’s own competences by updating the knowledge, developing new skills and searching for new solutions.
