On the basis of act of MCSU Senate Nr XXIV-27.18/19, 29th May 2019 r:

W1. The graduate knows and understands structure and the role of immune system in human body K_K01, K_W04

W2. The graduate knows and understands the immunity mechanisms of human body K_K01, K_W04

W3. The graduate knows and understands the role of immune system in defence infectious diseases and in tumors, and knows the immunotherapies methods K_W04, K_W06,

W4. The graduate knows and understands the role of abnormal reactions of immune system in pathogenesis of human diseases K_W04, K_W03, K_W06,

W5. The graduate knows and understands basic knowledge about the biology of viruses and viral infections of human K-W01,K_W04, K_W06, K_K08.

U1. The graduate knows the basic immunological and virological techniques K_K01, K_U02

U2. The graduate is able to select properly and apply appropriate the basic immunological and virological techniques K_U03

U3. The graduate is able to carry out the basic immunological and virological techniques K_U04

K1. The graduate is ready for continuous improvement, acquisition, extension, and updating of knowledge about health protection and methods used in immunology and virology K_K02, K_K03, K_K05

Metody i kryteria oceniania: (tylko po angielsku)

The regulations of laboratory classes which allow to finish laboratory classes and to take the final exam:

- at the most 2 absences on laboratory classes

- 2 tests:

the grades criterion:

100 - 95% - 5,0

94 - 90% - 5.0 -

85 - 89% - 4,5

84 - 78% - 4,0

77 - 72% - 4,0-

71 - 63% - 3,5

62 - 55% - 3,0

54 - 50% - 3,0-

- if absence is in the day of test and is unexcused, student gets a 2 grade and has to take the test

- if the test is failed, it has to be retaken

- all tests have to be passed (including not taken or failed)

- the final grade – the average of all grades

Zakres tematów: (tylko po angielsku)

The syllabus of laboratory:

1. Health and safety regulations during laboratory classes; schedule and organizational aspects of laboratory classes.

2. The innate immunity mechanisms. The assessment of phagocytic acitivity of monocytes – Wright’s method.

3. Organs and cells of immune system. Methods of leukocytes isolation used in immunological studies. The evaluation of cells viability.

4. Populations and subpopulations of leucocytes - the detection of lymphocytes surface receptors.

5. The practical application of antigen-antibodies reaction. Active and passive agglutination (red blood cells grouping test; latex tests), and ELISA assay.

6. Methods of viruses culturing - virus culturing by means of birds embryos

7. Methods of viruses quantification. - the hemagglutination test.
