On the basis of the Resolution of the Senate of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University No XXII-39.6/12 of 25 April 2012, i.e. starting from the education cycle 2012/2013:

W2. Understands relations between human ecology and other natural disciplines, giving the basis for understanding the principles of organisms functioning or the tool for interpretation and generalization of the knowledge possessed (K_W01, K_W04)

W3. Has knowledge of the development of knowledge, especially in the field of human ecology and the related improvement of research techniques (K_W06)

Divisions of human ecology (biological, social and cultural ecology). Basics of human ecology: definitions (ecosystem, biotope, biocenosis, ecological niche, biome, environment, habitat).

Historical outline of human ecology. Concepts of human relationships with nature.

Biological evolution versus cultural evolution. Ecological strategies of human groups and their cultural consequences.

Properties of ontogenesis. Types of adaptive changes on the level of organism and population.

Environmental factors (abiotic, biotic, social environment).

Biological rhythms.

Human body size and proportions in relation to latitude.

Ecological rules.

Ecology of nutrition.

Energy flow, nutrition, malnutrition, starvation, overweight, obesity.

Ecological aspects of diseases. Founding mutations. Major health hazards.

Biological determinants of stress

Anthropometry (measuring instruments, body lines and planes, anthropometric points, body measurements).

Weight and growth indices. Body weight. Estimation of body surface area. Body tissue components.
