The main corpus of the course consists of 15 literary works, divided in two per section, There are also alternative readings for those who wish to explore the topics further and critical bibliographical material relevant to the topics chosen for the course.

Note: the list of selected readings has been organised taking into consideration the availability of the Poilsh translation. However, in some cases a translation might not be available.

W3 -zna i rozumie zaawansowane metody analizy, interpretacji i wartościowania oraz problematyzowania dzieł literackich (obrazów literackich)w kontekście innych tekstów kultury - K_W11

Umiejętności:

U4 - potrafi integrować wiedzę z różnych dyscyplin w zakresie nauk humanistycznych - K_U05

U5 - posiada umiejętność lekturytekstu literackiego i powiązania go z głównymi współczesnymi zagadnieniami (ekologia, prawa zwierząt, gender, sztuczna inteligencja, postkolonializm, postpamięć itp.) - K_U08

Kompetencje społeczne:

K6 - ma świadomość poziomu swojej wiedzy i umiejętności w zakresie wartości literatury; rozumie potrzebę ciągłego dokształcania się i rozwoju kulturalnego - K_K01

K7 - ma świadomość rangi literatury w rozwoju postaw humanistycznych, miejsca literatury w kulturze - K_K06

The main assessment will be a final presentation on any of the suggested readings. That will account for 60% of the grade.

Attendance and active participation in class will account for the remainder of the grade (40%).

Oral presentation: 60%

Active participation: 40%

A maximum of two unjustified absences are allowed.

The lecture will cover some of the most important social and cultural contemporary topics, such as Ecology, Animal Rights, Gender, Globalisation, Migrations, Identity, Post-Colonialism and Post-Memory.

Some literary theory will be used critically, albeit not in an in-depth manner.

The teaching methods will be varied and inclusive. Various reaading and media resources (videos, podcasts) will be used during class and made accessible to students after the lecture.

Extra materials will be made availble for self-access but students are encouraged to bring their questions and doubts to class.
