- laboratory - tests (W1-W3; W5; U1; K1)

- laboratory - the permament verification of students work (U1-U3; K1-K2)

Pełny opis: (tylko po angielsku)

The syllabus of lecture :

1. The role and basic features of the immune system. Organs and cells of the immune system.

2. Passive and active mechanisms of innate immunity (phagocytosis, complement system, non-specific bactericidal substances, interferon). Recognition of microorganisms by non-specific mechanisms of immunity.

3. Lymphocyte differentiation, population and subpopulation.

4. Structure and biological characteristics of antigens and antibodies.

5. Humoral and cellular immune response.

6. Mechanisms of communication between cells of the immune system (cytokines, adhesion molecules).

7. Structure and role of MALT and SALT.

8. Anti-infective immunity against various groups of microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi) and parasites.

9. Immune tolerance - mechanisms that provide self-tolerance, factors leading to the abolition of self-tolerance, some autoimmune diseases.

10. Types of hypersensitivity, mechanisms of hypersensitivity, examples of hypersensitivity related diseases, basic diagnostic tests.

11. General characteristics of viruses - structure, properties, classification, replication.

12. Theories of origin of viruses.

13. Variability of viruses on the example of influenza virus.

14. Pathomechanisms of viral infections.

The syllabus of laboratory:

1. Health and safety regulations during laboratory classes; schedule and organizational aspects of laboratory classes.

2. The innate immunity mechanisms. The assessment of phagocytic acitivity of monocytes – Wright’s method.

3. Organs and cells of immune system. Methods of leukocytes isolation used in immunological studies. The evaluation of cells viability.

4. Populations and subpopulations of leucocytes - the detection of lymphocytes surface receptors.

5. The practical application of antigen-antibodies reaction. Active and passive agglutination (red blood cells grouping test; latex tests), and ELISA assay.

6. Methods of viruses culturing - virus culturing by means of birds embryos

7. Methods of viruses quantification. - the hemagglutination test.
