Pełny opis: |
During the course, students will learn about the subject of demographic research: elements of natural movement (births, deaths) and migration (external and internal migrations). The topics discussed during the course will be: basic concepts for demography, methods of demographic analysis, sources of population data, ways of explaining population changes in various historical periods (from prehistory to modern times), and the mechanisms underlying the changes and their consequences. The latter include: changes in attitudes and behaviors related to the broadly understood modernization, including reproductive ones (resulting in a change in marriage and fertility patterns), acceleration of the aging process of societies, reproduction that does not ensure simple replacement of generations, unusual intensity and commonness of migratory movements. The course will also cover selected population theories and issues of population policy. |
