Pełny opis: |
(tylko po angielsku) The medicinal properties of plants and their role in both traditional and modern medicine. History of herbal medicine, and alternative medicinal practices around the world. The basics of ethnobotanical research. Biodiversity, endangered medicinal and aromatic plants. Botanical, ecological, chemical and pharmacological characteristics of common medicinal plants. Biological aspects of natural active compounds present in plants. Commercial use of herbs. Therapeutic uses of plants (nerve system, metabolic syndrome, urology, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular). Herbal medicinal for dermatologic uses. The psychoactive drugs and poisons obtained from plants stimulants, hallucinogens, depressants). Toxicity of medicinal plants (hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, cardiotoxicity, neurotoxicity). Future of medicinal plants in medicine. The course consists of three modules: lecture, laboratory and field training. The aim of the course is to equip students with the knowledge of general and systematic botany with particular emphasis on pharmacopoeial and cosmetic species, morphological and anatomical structure of plant organs and pharmacopoeial raw materials, selected biologically active compounds present in plants, their action and use. Developing in students the ability to recognize medicinal and poisonous plants on the basis of fresh and herbarium specimens. Developing skills of using "keys" to mark plant raw materials. The classes have a theoretical and practical aspect. |

(tylko po angielsku) The course consists of three modules: lecture, laboratory and field training. The aim of the course is to equip students with the knowledge of general and systematic botany with particular emphasis on pharmacopoeial species. On the basis of Resolution of the Senate of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University No XXII-39.6/12 of 25 April 2012, i.e. from the teaching cycle 2012/2013: KNOWLEDGE W1. Understands the basic processes occurring in living organisms at the molecular, cellular and whole organism level K_W01. W2. Understands the importance of biodiversity conservation as a source of biological material for practical applications and as a condition for ensuring balance in the biosphere. K_W08: W3. Describes processes occurring in living organisms on the basis of experiments and observations and based on data from scientific sources. K_W11: W4. Knows basic research tools and techniques, laboratory and field, used in biological sciences. K_W17 SKILLS: U1. Applies basic research tools and techniques, laboratory and field, in the biological sciences. K_U01 U2. Carries out simple measurements and field observations. K_U03 U3. Draws correct conclusions from performed experiments and observations. K_U07 SOCIAL COMPETENCES K1. Shows an active attitude in gaining, completing and updating biological knowledge. K_K03 K2. K_K07: Shows a pro-ecological attitude and acts in accordance with the principles of scientific ethics. K_K07 Based on the Resolution of the Senate of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University No XXIV-27.18/19 of 29 May 2019, i.e. from the 2019/2020 education cycle KNOWLEDGE W1. Graduate knows and understands in advanced degree selected facts, concepts, objects, phenomena and complex relations between them and theories explaining them, constituting basic general knowledge of biology K_W01 W2. Graduate knows and understands in an advanced degree the relations between biology and other natural disciplines, which enable him/her to understand the principles of organisms functioning, to interpret and generalize the knowledge possessed K_W03 W3. Graduate knows and understands to an advanced degree the essence of activities aimed at preserving biological diversity as a condition for ensuring balance in the biosphere and as a source of biological material for practical applications K_W05 SKILLS U1. The graduates are able to make a proper selection of data sources, conduct a critical analysis, assessment and synthesis of their to solve problems and perform specific tasks K_U02: U2. The graduate is able to choose and apply adequate methods and research tools, and present the results of experiments or observations and conclusions, including the analysis of professional literature, in a written and oral form, using advanced information and communication techniques K_U03 U3. The graduate is able to carry out experiments, observations and measurements using appropriate research tools and methods, laboratory and/or field methods, and also to interpret the obtained results and to draw conclusions based on their knowledge K_U04 SOCIAL COMPETENCES K1. The graduates are prepared to critically evaluate their knowledge and the received contents, as well as to acknowledge the importance of general and specialist knowledge in solving specialist knowledge in the field of biology in solving cognitive and practical problems, and also to consult experts in case of difficulties in solving in case of difficulties in solving problems independently K_K02 K2 The graduate is prepared to fulfil social obligations, including sharing knowledge of biology with others and co-organize activities for social environment K_K03 K3.
