(EC) Environmental politics

This course examines the global politics of the environment with a particular focus on the interconnections between environmental challenges, international relations, and global governance. The course explores key debates about sovereignty, development, and justice in the context of environmental protection. Students will analyse the role of states, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and transnational movements in shaping environmental agendas. Case studies of climate change, biodiversity, deforestation, pollution, and sustainable development will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of international agreements and institutions.
